I was inspired to paint “Rooted in Love” after seeing a photo of a real tree who's branches crossed to form a heart shape. The rest of the shape of the tree and is inspired by my own imagination. Although this is not obviously a tree woman, which i live to create, I chose to shape the trunk in a feminine form. The branches are intended to create a feeling of flowing sensuality.

The sunset colors that create the background sky is intended to create a feeling of joy, warmth and tranquility.

I love how the central glow of sunsets can be caught in the branches, which inspired me to create a metaphorical flaming chalice in the form of a tree. The chalice is a symbol for Unitarian-Universalists (UU).

There's an energetic quality that I often like my trees to convey that is one of celebration, strength and empowerment.

Also on my mind while painting this scene was including the land below, symbolizing being grounded and connection with Mother Earth. The water conveys a calm, reflective quality, representing how we can can gently explore our emotions and reflect on our experiences and what helps heal and strengthen us.
