This flaming chalice resting In the Blue Ridge Mountains was inspired by the familiar shape of Massanutten in Virginia. They dimensional texture of the vines came to be because of a "happy accident" where an acrylic glaze had spilled on a canvas and dried only to evoke an image of a vessel surrounded in vines nestled in a natural environment. The flame is captivating and appears real at first glance. This was particularly satisfying to create.
